Apple is set to roll out four new features for the Reminders and Notes apps in the upcoming software updates. In Reminders, users will receive automated task suggestions and smart organization of lists. Notably, the Notes app will enable recording and transcribing phone conversations directly, along with new Markdown export support. These updates aim to enhance productivity and streamline user experience across Apple’s platforms.
Apple is gearing up to introduce four significant features to its Reminders and Notes applications across the upcoming iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS 26. These enhancements aim to streamline productivity for users. In Reminders, for instance, an advanced system known as Apple Intelligence will automatically suggest relevant tasks, drawing from items in emails and notes, alongside grocery items tailored to users’ habits. This contextual and personalized assistance aims to make capturing tasks much easier, minimizing the hassle of manual entry.
Another notable improvement in Reminders is the new capability to automatically categorize tasks into grouped sections. Users will see related items neatly organized, distinguishing their to-do lists into categories like groceries, errands, or work-related tasks, all done without needing to sort through them by hand.
Shifting focus to Notes, one of the most intriguing features allows users to record phone conversations directly from the Phone app. These recordings will be stored in Notes and come with an automatic transcription feature, meaning users can easily refer back to conversations or share summarized details later without difficulty. This marks a noteworthy step in integrating communication tools with note-taking capabilities.
Moreover, users can expect support for exporting notes in the Markdown format. This change opens up greater compatibility with various third-party writing tools and provides a cleaner, portable way to archive notes. Prior to this update, the only option for exporting notes was as PDFs, which limited flexibility for many users.
In connection with these updates, there is talk of new features slated for the Messages and Phone apps, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in light of Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2025. It appears that the Messages app may gain capabilities like creating polls and setting background images in conversations. The WWDC event, happening soon, is expected to reveal more innovative features across all Apple platforms.
Further stirring excitement, Apple teased the imminent launch of the “iPhone 17 Air,” rumored to debut later this year. While the device promises an impressively thin design, whispers suggest that compromises may be made, especially concerning battery life compared to its Pro counterparts.
In a bold move, Apple has announced a comprehensive software redesign dubbed “Liquid Glass,” which aims to unify design across all its major platforms, including iOS, macOS, and watchOS. This redesign, highlighted during the recent WWDC keynote by Apple software chief Craig Federighi, reflects the enhanced performance of Apple Silicon.
To add to the changes, macOS 26 is reportedly discontinuing support for some older Intel-based Mac models that are currently compatible with macOS Sequoia, a detail shared by a reliable source. Those looking to upgrade will need to ensure they have newer models, including MacBook Air and Pro from 2019 onward, and certain iMac versions.
